With a strong development background Greytrix has developed the Excise module for Sage Accpac ERP, a flagship product of Sage Software. Understanding the complexities of the Indian Taxation system and the need of capturing those essentially into Sage Accpac ERP, Greytrix stepped in with its 100 man years of experience on Sage Products to develop an excise module tackling both manufacturing as well as trading excise transactions.

Out of the unlimited taxes levied upon various industries, Excise duty is one more tax applicable on all the goods produced or manufactured here in India. Hence we have Excise duty applicable for traders as well as manufacturers. Every person who manufactures, produces, carries on trade, holds warehouses for excisable goods shall have to obtain registration under the excise laws. No excisable goods may be removed from the factory or a warehouse except under an invoice signed by the owner of the factory or his authorized agent.

Every assessee has to submit to the superintendent of Central Excise a monthly return in the specified form. For specified situations such as manufacture of goods exempt under a notification, a prescribed declaration and/ or a financial statement needs to be filed. Credit of service tax paid on input services, by a manufacturer of goods, is now available, in addition to the credit that was available in respect of inputs/ capital goods.

In India, the revenue from the Excise Tax is the biggest single financial source. The main objective of the central Government is to achieve different socio-economic policies by making suitable adjustments regarding the scope, nature, and quantum of levy of the Central Excise Tax. Such schemes of the Excise Tax taken by the central government modifies and serves various purposes of price control, adequate supply of essential commodities, promotion of small scale industries and industrial growth.

There are three different types of Central Excise Tax applicable mainly the Basic Excise Duty, Additional Duty of Excise and Special Excise Duty which fall under various Sections of the law. Various trade commodities are issued it these taxes depending on the predetermined government format. Also we have an excise tax that is levied on the service industry. Formerly called the Central Excise Duty, this tax is now known as the Central Value Added Tax (CENVAT). Manufacturers may offset duty paid on materials used in the manufacturing process by using that duty as a credit against excise tax through a process known as Central Value Added Tax Credit (CENVAT Credit). The offsetting process was formerly known as Modified Value Added Tax (MODVAT).

Greytrix Manufacturing Excise Module and Greytrix Trading Excise module for Sage Accpac ERP available for versions 5.4 and 5.5 incorporates these complex tax structures in synch with your finance, inventory and sales distribution.
Greytrix Statutory & Excise module for Trading and Manufacturing offers maintenance of

Manufacturing made easy with Autosimply.

One of the major area where every manufacturing concern focus is on production optimization because almost 70 to 80% of cost in COGS is incurred during production. Industry is working on this subject since few decades, as a result we could see many theories and principles being evolved and practiced. But still there is a something missing, every time you achieve a targeted perfection we can gage a small percentage of error. Reason for such error may be external or internal factors, some are within our control and some are beyond our control.

Now let’s think of something which is within our control, internal operation. Planning, scheduling, executing and reviewing internal operation is very much necessary to narrow down the variances between standards and actual. Advance planning is the general trend in manufacturing. But today, manufacturers prefer demand based manufacturing to reduce business risk.

“Demand driven approach to production gives 92% perfect order against 81% of those who do not” - AMR Research

Demand based manufacturing is a complex process because while planning in such scenarios
management has to consider many factors other than Man, Material and Money. Such complexity can be handled by using a comprehensive solution like Sage Auto-Simply, which is
exclusively developed with an objective to handle complex calculations and probabilities while forecasting and planning. Greytrix, in its implementation practices had always leveraged the
power of simplicity in Auto Simply and over a period of time this had delivered tremendous result to their clients.

We could see that most of them had:
• Reduced their inventory by 15%.
• Improved their POP (Perfect Order Performance) by 17%.
• Reduced CtC (Cash to Cash) cycle by 35%.

This had helped them to reduce working capital, increase capital utilization, inventory
optimization and mainly maintained a flexibility to change over between SKUs as per trend. Auto-simply modules like Production Planning & Manufacturing Order can help you to get summarized Availability Report, Order Projection Report, Production Schedules, ability to check on implication of changing scenarios on profitability, CoP (Cost of Production) & COGS (Cost Of Goods Sold).

In long run a manufacturer can expect business benefits like, Increased Customer
Service with on time delivery, optimal Capacity Utilization, Reduced Wastage,
Reduced Transportation & Warehousing Cost if opts for automation of the end to end production process.

Inventory Optimization with Sage Accpac ERP.

Inventory contributes to be your biggest cost center and revenue centre, your business wouldn’t work without the right kind of Inventory be it Raw Material, Finished goods or WIP. Today efficient Supply Chain management contributes to a lot of cost saving and reducing the inventory cost of a company. The complexities in terms of SCM have increased considerably, the reasons of the increase in this complexity is the wide spread nature of business, the increase in competition which has lead to the import and export of raw material from various countries, lead time associated with this trade, the quality and the diminishing margin are some other reasons. The buyer today is informed and for companies to strive in this competitive market it is very essential for them to have the inventory maintained to the most optimal level. The companies today want to maintain Just In Time (JIT ) inventory so that they avoid the risks associated with stocking inventory. But sometimes some wrong calculations or oversight of information or missing information can cause the JIT to fail completely and thus result in the loss of a customer and thus valuable business.

It is very necessary for business owners to have the exact idea of their Inventory Pipeline and utilize this information to the best to achieve Inventory Optimization. This optimization will only be achieved if the Business owners have a 360 degree view of their business , they ought to know the current orders , the order pipeline, the lead time to delivery , the expected delays, the priorities of orders , sales vs purchases , and more vital information like this. This can only be achieved if the business owners are well informed and have the correct information , they are supplied with the right information on a daily basis.

How do you achieve this??

It is often said that most of the decisions in a business go wrong not because of a bad judgement but due to the information supplied to pass that judgement . Business owners with their level of experience do not take the wrong decisions, the decisions are wrong because the information which is supplied to them is sometimes wrong or not as per standards. In today’s competitive environment where the margins are diminishing and the costs are going up it has become all the more crucial to manage the business with an eagle’s eye.
Your business can be efficiently managed with a Business solution that will support and take care of all the activities carried out in your business. You need a solution that will give you the right information at the right time. Sage ACCAPC ERP coupled with BI Alchemex is the right solution for your business. Does MIS reports suffices for your business???

Next level towards total business automation after business process automation is to develop a powerful tool which gives a deep insight into your business operation. Many of us get confused with the aspect of Management Information System & Business Intelligence. Management Information system is a collection of business operation information which work as decision support system for us at each functional level and provide feedback on daily operations.

But a just a MIS tool is not sufficient for a progressive organization, a tool which has a capability to analyze and address - “What” & “Why” of past, present & future business events is necessary. MIS tool is just a report which flash out facts of business operation to the management.

Information about transaction will become more important than transaction itself.” - Walter Wriston, chair and CEO of Citicorp/Citibank, 1967-1984
Companies that are high performing are more analytical than lower performing businesses.” - Jeanne Harris, Accenture Director of Research

“… top performing organizations separate themselves from their peers by their ability to quickly diagnose the root cause of problems they face on a daily basis.” - The Advisory Board

Business intelligence can be described as a methodology or processes designed and developed with technology, architectured for transforming raw data into meaningful and useful information which enables us to achieve strategic, tactical, and operational efficiency. Today Business Intelligence is used in almost every industrial vertical be it Reality, Real Estate, Retail, Financial Services, or a typical manufacturing.

Business Process Management and Business Process Engineering improves business efficiency but Business Intelligence Tool impacts on effectiveness of business decision. A simple principle works over here – the more you get to know about your business the more develop your competitive advantage.

Business Intelligence tool help you to focus on every aspect of business – Finance, Marketing, Resource Utilization, Operation, General administration, Compliances & regulations, and so on. Sage Accpac Business Intelligence module is one of the state of art tool which helps you to get better, faster, more informed and confident information from your business data. Sage Accpac Business Intelligence is low-cost, easy and faster deployable with dynamic charts showing Key Performance Indicators and Dashboard Technology.
So, just a system or a reporting tool is not enough in progressive organization, we should have a strong tool to highlight those information which often gets unnoticed but carries long term consequences in business. As someone had rightly said……..
“You Manage What You Measure!”

Have you considered the below points while selecting your Enterprise Solution ???

Read on further to acquaint yourself with some questions you need to answer before you finalize on an Enterprise solution for your Enterprise.

  1. Scalability of your CRM to ERP and vice versa
When selecting an ERP or CRM it is essential to keep in mind that we need to select a system which can be scaled up in future. As the business grows the need of integration amongst systems arises, the possibility of managing the current islands of information and automation decreases and you require one platform to manage the various activities of your business. The ERP or CRM that you select must be such that it can be scaled up and can be integrated with the systems that you may require in future. It is best if the same vendor can provide you with both the solutions, this helps in better integration amongst the systems. You may not realize it today but in the long run this integration proves to be one of the major success factors for your solution and forms the backbone of your business. Always look for a solution which has the capability of integration and can scale up to an enterprise level solution.

  2. Skill set of your Users ,Organizational Needs, Technology
The skill set of your users and the organizational needs should determine the solution that you purchase be it ERP / CRM you need to understand your business requirements and analyze them with the current user base. The question you need to answer is that will my users be able to handle the complex system and are my current requirements complicating the system ? You may need to sacrifice some of your requirements and may require a restructuring of your business processes so that your current users can fit into the system and can work with it. The additional requirements that you have can always be accommodated in the Phase 2 when your users are more comfortable with the system. So always remember that you need to select a system that can match closest to your requirements and which your users can use, keeping in mind the scalability aspect of the solution .

  3. Saas Vs On Premise
As a business owner it is very essential for you to decide on what kind of investments you want to do in the system and what kind of support structure can you provide to your ERP/CRM. SaaS model seems profitable at the first go , the investment is less , you do not have to maintain IT Infrastructure and it is a subscription based model. But what we do not see is the recurring cost that we have to pay every month/year to keep the subscription live and going. Also the scope of customization is restricted in SaaS. On Premise on the other hand is a costly option the initial investment is high but the recurring charges are very low and sometimes even NIL. The scope of customizations and mapping your business requirements is very high . Both the models have their own Pros and Cons, one thing you need to check is that can the SaaS model you take be converted to an On Premise model.

  4. Realistic expectations
This is one of the factors why sales people are frustrated, over selling happens and Implementations and systems fail. It is very important to set realistic expectations form a software , be it the cost , the implementation time frame or the delivery that the software will do . we need to be realistic about the functionalities of the software that we are purchasing and cannot expect Stars and moon from the system at the first go . We need to keep our expectations low during the initial phases and then raise the Bar as the system gets stabilized . All you need to do is check if the system has the capability to meet your expectations now and in future.

With all this in mind you can start your search for the right ERP / CRM Solution for your organization.Sage Software offers you the exact fitment for your business,Sage Extended Enterprise Suite is an offering from Sage Software which comprises of Sage ACCPAC ERP and Sage CRM. These two application work independently and also work in synch with each other and have an inbuilt integration i.e. no customization is required to integrate the two.Sage EES offers you a complete business solution wherein you can start with ERP or CRM as per your immediate requirement and then add on the other later.Going ahead you can add a BI which will help you in better reporting , some add-on modules like a manufacturing module , project and job costing ,National accounts , GL Security , DMS etc… there is no limit to what all you can add to enhance your system …the best part is that all the offerings given by Sage are integrated to each other and the products are user friendly.
